Laser - Epilation: Side effects

BACK

Patients with a recent sun tan might suffer from a depigmentation in the treated zone. This happens frequently, especially after using the LightSheer® Laser. However today we can say that our experience has shown that clear spots usually disappear once the skin is again exposed to sunlight. Because of this we recommend the MedArt® 435 Laser to patients with a high phototype.

Directly after the treatment the treated skin can become red and swollen. The swelling is a normal reaction that rarely ever hurts and usually disappears after a few hours.

In very rare cases scab can be formed and it should not be removed. Sometimes even pigment alterations that last for months can be seen, especially on patients with very dark skin. In any case our experience shows that all side effects disappear after a few months at the latest.

The main side effect of the MedArt® 435 Laser is that it usually takes two more sessions to accomplish the depilation than with the LightSheer® Laser.

The laser depilation has one big advantage compared to other cosmetic depilation techniques: There is no risk of scars or the transmission of infections.
